Poker is arguably the most popular card game and is sometimes called "the great American Game". Today there is a poker craze all around the world. Poker has been visibly played on television, on the World Wide Web and even featured in movies; proof of the appeal of the game to human interest in all walks of life.
There are many kinds of poker, but all of them have several factors in common. The dealer gives one card at a time to the players until all have the requisite number for the particular type being played. Each player in turn then will bet on their cards or drop out of the game. At any point of the game a player can either challenge or make a bet. If a player makes a bet, challengers are required to raise, call or fold. If a player bets and no one chooses to challenge the bet, the hand ends immediately. Eventually the single player with the best hand wins whatever has been bet during the round.
Bluffing is a main feature of playing poker and a part that differentiates it from other card games. It is important that a poker player knows the basic rules of bluffing to enable a sure win at any poker event.
A poker professional will always employ deception in his game. It's the only way to find out and to test his playmates whether they are holding a good combination of cards or they are just tricking each other.

It is important to know the two types of bluffing and how can we successfully use it in our game. Pure Bluff is when you have an inferior card with no chance of improving. This is a bluff that could only survive if all your opponents fold. The trick here is to look confident and look all the players in the eye with teasing and devilish confidence.
A semi-bluff on the other hand is a kind of bluff you use when your card is inferior but has a chance of improvement. To win a game in semi-bluff a player has two possibilities, 1) all the players will fold to your bluff; 2) you will catch a card that will improve your hand. Again, acting and mathematical skills will come in handy in this area of bluffing. You have to act confident and test your opponents.
Needless to say, a good poker player knows the boundaries of bluffing and the circumstances that comes with it. Bluffing is not 100% effective and there are always limitations.
There are several game patterns or ways that can decrease or limit a gamers' probability in winning but may increase the possibilities for an effective bluff.
1) When fewer players fold on your bluff
2) The bluff gives less favorable odds for the opponents to call
3) A player's betting pattern may perceived what type of card he or she has at hand
4) Remember that your opponents are also sizing you up so better be careful in folding and doing your own bluffs.
In addition, you must always practice optimal bluffing, which means that you don't bluff every time you have bad cards or in a very predicable manner. It's important that your co-players never know the difference when you're bluffing and when you're not.
Indeed poker is no longer limited in being a great American card game. It has become a global sensation and indeed captured audiences in all walks of life and culture. It's important to know that in playing this game being decisive, strategic and even tricky is important, for this game doesn't just gives the prize to the winning cards but to the person with a teasing bluff.
